SM2261-installation 01

A paper-made installation

Plane is the basic element of all 3D objects; this work is aimed to use the idea of crossing planes, to explore the possibility of repeating crossing planes.

A set of normal white cards was prepared for the work. There are two simple rules to make the installation. Firstly, all cards would be cut half 3 times, the cuts should be from the top or bottom. Secondly, cards were randomly combined until no more cut remain.

  1. simple but nice=]
i think if you repeat the steps to make a larger work or with more complicated patterns...then it would be something like snowflakes as outcome? haha

  2. Nice. The pattern repeat and repeat. Something like the L-system in generative art. Although you use paper to create the thickness, I think it's still quite flat. Maybe you can develop the pattern to other direction, not only from up to down. However, it may have some difficulty to develop or show it due to gravity.
